Day 1

Talang Talang Turtle Conservation Programme – Morning transfer to Sematan jetty and take the 45mins boat ride to Talang-Talang Besar Island and check-in lodge. Briefing & discussion about the conservation program. Visit the hatching area & assist the park rangers e.g. if there’s new hatchling on that day, need to count and release. Evening, enjoy the sunset while on standby for the signal from the park ranger for turtles on the beach to lay their eggs. Park ranger will brief you further information about the turtle actions & observe the measuring/examining and making the documentation/identification mark of each of the turtles.  (L/D)

Day 2

Briefing & discussion about last night findings. Together with your guide check the identification mark of the turtles & learn about the international policy of the turtle conservation (IUCN). After lunch, upon agreement of Sarawak Forestry Corporation, possibility to explore the island & snorkeling. Later, check the hatching places & observe the turtles hatching out, documentation and afterwards releasing. Tonight, you are increasingly doing more protection activities yourself. Beach patrol with the park ranger to keep records of the arriving turtles. As soon as they start laying their eggs, you will (under the guidance of the park ranger) begin to measure them, collect the eggs and to document this landing with the help of the identification mark of each of the turtles.  (B/L/D)

Day 3

Briefing & discussion about yesterday findings and compile and edit the recorded data of the turtles. After lunch, upon agreement of Sarawak Forestry Corporation, possibility to explore the island & snorkeling. Tonight, you will try to do all the protection activities as independently as possible (under the observation of the park ranger).  (B/L/D)

Day 4

Briefing & discussion about yesterday findings and the results of the last days and also about possible problems in the implementation of this protection program. Check-out & return to Sematan by boat and head back to Kuching. (B/L)
