Day 1

Pick up from the hotel. Drive for about 275km to Batang Ai Boat Jetty. Few stops will be made along the journey. First stop will be at Serian town. Serian town’s highlight is the native market. Explore the market to identify some jungle produce such as local vegetables and fruits. In the meantime, you may help your guide to purchase some of the items for your supply during the trip. Next stop will be Lachau, a little town for lunch. After lunch, continue the drive to Batang Ai Jetty. Upon arrival, proceed by longboat for 1 hour across Batang Ai Reservoir to Delok Longhouse. Meet the chief of the longhouse and check in at host family room. Dinner will be at the host family room/chief. Enjoy the evening by sitting and relaxing on the ruai (common veranda). Listen to stories of the Iban and learn about their culture. (B/L/D)

Day 2

Destination of the day is Jelia River which takes 20 minutes boat ride from the longhouse. The highlight activity is to trek on one of the trails. Jelia is very well known by the locals as the home of the Orang Utan. Nest sometimes can be spotted. Walk in one of the oldest forest in Sarawak is an amazing experience of your life. Long tail/ Short tail macaques are occasionally seen in this area. There are a variety of birds that can be seen/heard such as eagle, kingfisher, Asia paradise fly-catcher, pheasant and some other tropical birds. Learn about plants that are used by the locals (handicraft, food, medicine). Swimming is available in the river / small waterfall after the trek. You may participate in preparing local BBQ lunch at the riverbank. Proceed back to the longhouse in the afternoon. Free at leisure in the evening/ chat with local. ( B/L/D)

Day 3

After breakfast, proceed downriver with the longboat for return to Kuching. Lunch en-route. ( B/L )
